About Plinth
A small firm built around one idea: the base comes first.
Plinth Education is a human college admissions counselling firm founded in 2026 by Vansh Gupta, after five years of counselling students across India, the UAE, the UK, the US, Australia and Singapore. The name is the point: a plinth is the stone base a column stands on, and an application stands or falls on the profile underneath it.
Why Plinth exists
What five years of sessions kept showing
The same problems appeared in almost every profile review: a list of ten activities with no spine; competitions entered without reading a single winning entry; a research paper that was really a book report; essays that listed achievements instead of arguing anything; and deadlines missed because everyone assumed someone else owned them.
None of these are talent problems. They are sequencing problems. The essay was attempted before the profile existed. The list was made before the diagnosis. The fix is boring and it works: do the steps in order, write each one down, and have one person responsible for the calendar.
That sequence became the Plinth Method. The firm is built to run it well for a small number of students at a time, rather than to run it thinly for many.
How we work
Six commitments
The student is the client
Parents get a window and a monthly note. The student gets the counsellor. Decisions are made with the student in the room.
Honest over flattering
If the list is unrealistic we say so in the first month, when it can still be changed. We would rather lose the engagement than run a doomed one.
We never write the essay
Not a sentence. Not the activity descriptions, not the competition entry, not the research paper. Editing, structure and brainstorming, yes. Authorship, never.
Artefacts, not impressions
Every step produces a document the family keeps: a diagnosis, a pillar map, a calendar, a brainstorming record. That is how you audit us.
Few students, one counsellor
Caseloads are capped each cycle so the person you meet on the first call does the work. Growth is not the goal; the work is.
Faces stay private
Students are never named or pictured. Outcomes are reported in aggregate with a stated method. Their applications are theirs.

Full backgroundSubject mentors and tutors
Research mentors (graduate students and early-career researchers matched to the student's field), SAT and ACT tutors, and IB, A-level, IGCSE, CBSE and ISC subject tutors. Every one has been interviewed and observed teaching by Vansh before being matched with a student. They are brought in for a defined piece of work; the counselling relationship stays with one person.
Where we work
Online, on your time zone
Sessions run over video, scheduled around school in India, the Gulf, Singapore and wherever the student is. Most editing happens asynchronously in shared documents between sessions, which is faster and leaves a record.
We work with students in international and Indian boards alike: IB, A-levels, IGCSE, CBSE and ISC. For families outside India, invoices are in USD or AED.
